This is an easy and few demanding route through the beautiful valley bottom of the torrent Vermigliana, from the little lakes of St. Leonardo to the wooded rest area “Le Viscle” and, with a brief detour, into the charming Val Stavel. The name given to this itinerary derives from the habitat of the badger, with its unmistakable black-and-white striped muzzled that lives in its setts (the badger's lairs) nearby the wood and comes out during the night wandering through the meadows in search of food.
From the little lakes of Vermiglio cross the bridge over the torrent Vermigliana, reach the dirt road on the orographic right at the foot of the forest and proceed towards Volpaia. Always keeping to the orographic right and after a short stretch on the asphalt, take the dirt road again that runs on the line between the meadows and the wood up to the Foia hut. Then turn to the right, ride across the bridge over the torrent Stavel, get to the same-name farmhouses and, after 50 mt. on an asphalt road, take the dirt road that leads to the Cadin hut. Go past this wonderful rural building dominated by the northern slopes of the Cima Presanella and get to the junction of the military road to the Denza alpine hut. Ride shortly on it up to the second switchback, the turn right in the direction of the Velon hut. Continue alongside the torrent Vermigliana and reach Viscle where you have to shift on the hydrographic left slope by crossing a wooden bridge. A gentle downhill stretch leads you to the meadows and the beautiful farmhouses of Velon. Beyond the asphalt road take the downhill forest track that goes through the wood first and then through the meadows, and finally crosses the provincial asphalt road of Stavel, which takes us back to the little lakes of Vermiglio.
